At times like these, I'm glad I don't have predispositions of reckless drinking or anything self destructive to fall back on.

[eat] Spanakopitas

I rummaged through my fridge and pantry to no avail. Nothing interesting. result: made Spanakopitas. (Automatic spell check wanted me to change that to "Spanking". we'll save that for another post.. (kidding)).

First I had to use my (none existent) muscles to squeeze the water outta that Spinach. Chop up some parsley, mix with Feta, and throw in the garlic and sweated onions. ("sweating" refers to heating them in a pan until they become translucent, but not until golden).

Phyllo pastry comes in sheets. Layered about three of those (paper, egg wash, paper, egg wash, paper), and with a spoon scoop of filling, folded them up on themselves.

could have made a stop motion out of the last sequence of pictures

Out of the oven all yummy.

I think they turned out rather well.
And yet it didn't satiate me. greeeat. Now I have to figure out what I was craving, if it wasn't spinach and cheese and flaky envelopes.

Was pretty awful to someone in a dream just now. Gotta shake that feeling and go about my day.

[ __ ] ma journée, genre..

I wish I had the right content for a good, solid, wonderfully insightful and amusing post. Alas, I really don't. (nothing new). So just a random bunch of thoughts will have to do. But that's no fun to write, so I'll try and tie them together..somehow..maybe just with conjunctions.

"spark notes" version below. Trust me, you won't be missing any extra information.

After a long and decently productive day at werk, I got some not-so-fun news. The severity of which I can only measure as of Monday, but it isn't looking too good :( . Well not horrible, just inconveniant and disappointing. I had to navigate the metro system with large and pointy rulers, capable of taking someone's eye out with a sudden movement. Considering that, paired with my mood, it's a good thing no one approached me to be of annoyance. You know how metro people can be. I got home sleepy and proceeded to fall asleep as a direct result. With my contacts in. And so after having woken up, I feel as though they have been suction cupped to my eye. The lense and my eyeball have become one. That'll be fun to try and remove. sigh.

In other news, I've run into about 3 spiders today. On a totally unrelated note, I ate a lot of food, because sometimes I confuse sleepy with hungry (don't judge). So like left over rice, and strawberry-mango smoothie, and cheesewiz on crackers. Clearly I need my own cooking show. or perhaps a personalized dietary food pyramid. With rice being on the top. Oh- sorry about the tangents, I forgot you were reading this. Followed by the nap, resulted in some weird dream. The pointy rulers did make their appearance in it, as well as puppies. Now I'm drinking water, as if it were to erase the effects of a full belly.

Lastly, on my regrouping of thoughts; Hoping on a Greyhound and going to visit a friend for the weekend. With the possibility of seeing another friend as well. Should be fun. I'll make a post bout it if it ends up fantabulously exciting!

Point form
-got possibly shitty news today
-went on metro with dangerous drafting tools
-food and napped
-contact lens stuck to my eye
-spiders were encountered
-had a weird dream
-and off to neighboring province tomorrah .

[ ]The 3 in 1 post

I love Grey. Grey grey e’ryday. So no surprise I like silver quite a bit aswell. Like grey except with the added allure of “slightly shinny”. There is most likely no need for me to explain the properties of such a “colour”/shade, as even if you happen to be colour blind, you’ve haven't been deprived of anything with silver, therefore I digress. The new two additions to my “jewelry box”:

A chain curtain from my mother, adorned with a little leaf (I like leaves as well..)

An ethereal-esque profile
encompassing wildlife and nature. So lovely. From a dear (deer?) friend.

Part II

The film Melancholia came to mind as I was brushing my hair today (useless information added). Film of such image-rich sustenance, nice for those who go to movies mainly for the visual. A plot you try and follow, turning to short dialogue and unspoken information to try and piece together why through such lovely scenery and seemingly joyful premises you sit with with a constant underlying feeling of dread. Until, well, the dread starts. Also quite distracting was the bust of Kirsten Dunst in her wedding dress throughout most of the film.

Part III

Also, in no connection with the two previous topics, I need to get a hold of myself. And start creating stuff, anything really, for others, for me, whatever it may be. Come sewings in piles, both success and trials. Thoughts scribbled down concrete, where ideas can meet. Whatever their tone, the happier the better. Creating every day, no matter the weather.. Whoa, sorry, I went all Dr. Seuss on you there.

Chilled at a new place tonight. The corniest lines were uttered, drank "Kool Aid", and a girl burnt her hair over an open flame.
Overall a good time.

[eat] Apple Pie

The best Apple pies are the ones that follow few rules or strict recipes. You grab a cook book, an awesome apron (*not optional!), and a few memories of the times you watched over a coworkers shoulder as they made pies and you ignored work responsibilities.. Got all that? Then you're all set! Apologies for the obnoxious titanium in the picture. I really need to downsize that thing.

Mine consisted of Spartan apples, Sour cream, Brown sugar, Cinnamon, Pie dough, and I made some crumble for the top.

Judging by facial expressions, my appetizers didn't impress. I guess the anticipation of the pie just distracted them from the cute-ily crafted entrées I had prepared.

Final result! It was sweet and apple-y and looked how a proper rustic home made pie should look.

Zero presentation points to whomever served it. What is that? A little mound of what?

Someone pass the vanilla icecream :)

Week 1 of school completed

Not a full week, but nevertheless.
I'll try my best to stick with it this time around.
Other than the few times I felt a little nauseous, I have a good feeling bout this returning.

It's worth another shot ? .

[ __ ]

The past few months/half-a-year have been poorly documented on my part. Sure I've kept some groceries receipts, some Public Transit passes and a business card or two have added themselves to my wallet. But thats about it. I did manage to snap a few pictures in my down time, but no scribbled-in-agenda, no attempt at a paper diary, and no blog posts to be seen.

And yet it has been a time with loads of change for me. I chose to live on the down low, pulled back from how and with whom I was living before. I just needed a little time for myself. Hoping I haven't shunned a few people to no repair... because of my careless, disappearing act, kind of ways.

But, I figured since I'm coming around again, a generally recap of whats been going on on my side, just a mere couple of cities away, may be in order.

Living in a hostile and dangerous area, where the cabs don't enter and the sun don't shine...

Of course not! Knowing me and my lack of self defense skills I migrated to a calm neighbourhood, between two of the main streets, and hip culturally diverse quarters (the likes of Little Italy and Koreatown). In a cosy little room in a great big cosy house with some sweet-as roommates. My bed mate eventually moved out. I can't say I miss being woken up in the middle of the night to a cat-pounce and maulings out of ''affection''.

(Bed mate being a Cat, incase I left room for doubt in my wording)

My lovely ever shifting diet comprised of Cakes and noodles and 고구마 and fruit was quite eclectic, but happily received by my stomach. Don't worry, if I cook for you, I'll stick to a safe french toast. I make a good french toast.

As for means of monetary compensation, a.k.a. a job, I've been working in a quaint bakery. Hence the abundance of pies and cakes I have consumed. Such artistry to baking and cake-making I wish I could attain.

Why they chose to put the tourtiere making in the hands of a non cook/baker is beyond me, but here are my little meat pies:)

But that's all about to change. With a few days left of food prep and serving customers, and a few days to relaaaax and do the christmas thing with my restricted family (sister being the only one living semi-close to me), I'll be packing up and heading back. To take on school again and whatever else is thrown my way.

I'm legit worried, borderline scared. The transition back is bound to be shakie.
On verra bien.

p.s. the sporadic chronology of this blog having huge empty spot for months at a time, may be weird, but Id figure Id leave the past on here anyway. I was content with my anecdotes at the time, so why should present-me be a bully to past-me and take them down..?

[people] Norwegian Wood S/S 2011

Its been out and about for a bit already (the spring/summer line), but nevertheless, here are some pictures from the Norwegian Wood photoshoot (Round 1).

(love the fluorescent pink bolo!)

(although potentially providing an awesome back drop, it was decided that the building wasn't the safest place to shoot, in case it were to cave in)

(lots of climbing and decending the steep dusty slope. This can be done fashionably, as demonstrated by Angie's "strike-a-pose" technique.)
